A Welcome Letter from Ms. Rhyne

Dear City Park Families,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!

At City Park, we live by our motto of “Endless PAWSibilities!” We wanted to incorporate our school mascot, Paws, into the motto. Our desire is to give our students every chance and opportunity possible. We love our students and want to support their success.

Every decision we make is always centered around what is best for our students. We always keep our guiding principles in mind. They are:

  1. City Park is where children can explore endless possibilities.

  2. We will build on our legacy by providing opportunities of hope, celebrating successes, and empowering our families.

We support the district's mission to cultivate a safe and innovative environment where every student gains the skills and confidence to learn, lead, and succeed.

We value the time we are able to spend with each individual student. Please assist in ensuring our students are both at school and on time. Instruction begins promptly at 8:30 am. The information provided on our site and in our handbook is especially important to our work. It is also important that we know how to contact you for any reason. Please make sure we always have your current address and phone number.

I am looking forward to this school year! It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your principal.

Sincerely,

Kim Rhyne, Ed.S.

Congratulations!

We are proud to announce that Allison Chlebisch and Hannah Talley have been named finalists for the Tom Jones Educator of the Year Award. This prestigious honor is presented annually to an educator in Dalton Public Schools who has made significant contributions to the education of children in Dalton and who exemplifies excellence in teaching.

The award, established in 1987, is named in memory of Tom Jones, a prominent Dalton businessman, co-founder of J&J Industries, and longtime member and chairman of the Dalton Board of Education. A native of Dalton and a proud product of Dalton Public Schools, Jones is remembered for his unwavering support of our community and schools.

We congratulate Mrs. Chlebisch and Mrs. Talley on this outstanding recognition and thank them for their dedication to our students and school community! The winner of the award will be announced on August 29 during half-time of the Dalton High School football game.

Amira Testing for Grades K-3

Amira is a computer-based reading assessment and intervention program used to evaluate and support student reading development. It uses AI to listen as students read aloud, providing immediate feedback and personalized practice. For parents, Amira offers insights into a child's reading skills and progress, helping identify strengths and areas needing improvement. Students in grades K-3 will take the Amira assessment three times during the school year.

PAWS & Applause

At City Park, we believe in growing not just smart students, but kind and caring citizens. That’s why we celebrate PAWSitive Panthers, our Character Trait of the Month program, as part of our PAWS and Applause initiative! Each month, we focus on an important character trait—such as respect, responsibility, kindness, or perseverance—and learn what it means to practice that trait at school, at home, and in our community.

Teachers will be on the lookout for students who are shining examples of the month’s trait. At the end of the month, those students will be recognized as our PAWSitive Panthers and celebrated for the positive impact they make every day. There will also be quarterly celebrations to recognize the excellence PAWS expects.

Together, we can show that Panther pride is about more than academics—it’s about the pawsitive choices we make!

Officer Johnson

Officer Johnson Says...

City Park is pleased to welcome Officer Johnson to the 405 Block. He has a few reminders to help us all stay safe!

Please remember to follow all traffic and directional prompts during pick up and drop off.

Please remember to drive slowly and carefully!

Please remember that any last minute transportation changes need to be communicated first to our front office staff. They will then communicate these changes to the homeroom teacher and students.
