Georgia School Climate Survey for Grades 3-5 |
The Georgia School Climate Surveys will open for Dalton Public Schools students, teachers, staff, and families on December 8, 2025, and runs through February 13, 2026. These confidential surveys give every stakeholder a voice in shaping school climate, safety, and culture. The results directly support School Improvement Plans, advance our district goals, and impact each school’s Climate Star Rating. City Park students in grades 3-5 will take the survey during the week of January 26-30 with their homeroom teachers.
Why the Surveys Matter:
Provides actionable data to improve learning and working conditions
Highlights strengths and areas for growth
Participation is reflected in each school’s Climate Star Rating
Your feedback guides district and school-level decisions
Although participation is voluntary, the Georgia Department of Education specifies that to be recognized as achieving a high rating, schools must have at least 15 family surveys and 71% or higher participation on the student, staff, and teacher surveys. Thank you for helping ensure every voice in Dalton Public Schools is heard. If you have any questions, please reach out to the City Park administration.

Perseverance is an important character trait we encourage students every day. It means continuing to try, even when learning feels challenging or setbacks occur. When students practice perseverance, they develop resilience, confidence, and problem-solving skills that support both academic and personal growth.
Wellness plays a big role in perseverance. When our minds and bodies are cared for, it’s easier to stick with goals and bounce back from setbacks. Here are a few simple wellness tips to support perseverance at school and at home:
Break tasks into smaller steps to make challenges feel more manageable.
Practice positive self-talk, such as “I can try again” or “Mistakes help me learn.”
Prioritize rest, movement, and healthy nutrition, which all support focus and mood.
Encourage asking for help—perseverance includes knowing when to lean on others.
By nurturing both perseverance and wellness, we help students develop lifelong skills that support success in school and beyond. Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s growth.

It’s hard to believe, but we’re quickly approaching the 100th day of school!
On this special day, we celebrate how much our students have learned and grown since the beginning of the school year. It’s a fun way for students to reflect on all their hard work and accomplishments and to celebrate the school year being more than half way complete!
Expect to see some fun activities where our students will get creative with the number 100—whether it’s counting to 100 or creating projects with 100 items!
You can encourage your students to share their excitement by creating collections of 100 small items (such as 100 buttons, stickers, or coins) and discussing what 100 means in different ways at home.
PAWZ is so proud of our students for being 100 Days Smarter!

Cozy Up with a Good Book! |
At City Park, we believe literacy and a love of reading can open up Endless PAWSibilities for our students. Reading is also a great indoor activity for these cold winter days! Here are some tips from PAWS for encouraging reading and improving literacy skills at home.
Create a Reading Routine--Set aside a specific time each day for reading, whether it’s before bed or after school. Consistency helps make reading a habit.
Provide a Variety of Books--Offer a selection of books at different reading levels and genres, including fiction, non-fiction, and picture books. Let your child choose what interests them!
Read Together--Read aloud with your child, or take turns reading pages. This promotes fluency, vocabulary, and a love for stories.
Make Reading Interactive--Ask questions about the book, talk about the characters, and encourage your child to predict what will happen next. This engages them and enhances comprehension.
Create a Cozy Reading Space--Set up a special area in your home where your child can read comfortably. A quiet, inviting space can make reading more enjoyable.

Kickin' It Safely in PE and Dance/Tumbling |
Proper athletic shoes give students the support they need to run, jump, and play without slipping or getting hurt. To help everyone participate safely, please make sure your child wears closed-toe shoes, ideally tennis shoes. Shoes with heels are not allowed, as they can damage our equipment. Shoes that stay securely on the feet — like sneakers with laces or Velcro — help prevent trips and falls. Sandals, boots, Crocs, or flip-flops can make it hard to participate fully and safely. We also encourage athletic or comfortable play clothes—leggings, shorts, or t-shirts work great!
While no child will ever be left out because of their clothing, proper attire helps students move more freely and comfortably during class.
Please help your child be ready for PE and Dance/Tumbling by sending them in comfortable, well-fitting athletic shoes on these specials days. The right footwear helps your child do their best and stay injury-free!
