It’s hard to believe, but we’re quickly approaching the 100th day of school!
On this special day, we celebrate how much our students have learned and grown since the beginning of the school year. It’s a fun way for students to reflect on all their hard work and accomplishments and to celebrate the school year being more than half way complete!
Expect to see some fun activities where our students will get creative with the number 100—whether it’s counting to 100 or creating projects with 100 items!
You can encourage your students to share their excitement by creating collections of 100 small items (such as 100 buttons, stickers, or coins) and discussing what 100 means in different ways at home.
PAWZ is so proud of our students for being 100 Days Smarter!

Understanding BEACON: Tracking Your Child’s Progress and Growth |
Georgia School Climate Survey for Grades 3-5 |
The Georgia School Climate Surveys will open for Dalton Public Schools students, teachers, staff, and families on December 8, 2025, and runs through February 13, 2026. These confidential surveys give every stakeholder a voice in shaping school climate, safety, and culture. The results directly support School Improvement Plans, advance our district goals, and impact each school’s Climate Star Rating. City Park students in grades 3-5 will take the survey during the week of January 26-30 with their homeroom teachers.
Why the Surveys Matter:
Provides actionable data to improve learning and working conditions
Highlights strengths and areas for growth
Participation is reflected in each school’s Climate Star Rating
Your feedback guides district and school-level decisions
Although participation is voluntary, the Georgia Department of Education specifies that to be recognized as achieving a high rating, schools must have at least 15 family surveys and 71% or higher participation on the student, staff, and teacher surveys. Thank you for helping ensure every voice in Dalton Public Schools is heard. If you have any questions, please reach out to the City Park administration.

Digital Citizenship Focus: Perseverance Online
This month, our students are learning how perseverance connects to being responsible digital citizens. Just like in the classroom, perseverance online means staying patient, respectful, and thoughtful—even when things feel challenging. Students are practicing how to keep trying when technology doesn’t work as expected, how to respond appropriately to online mistakes, and how to ask for help instead of giving up.
We are also talking about the importance of perseverance when learning new digital tools, completing online assignments, and navigating digital interactions with kindness. We encourage families to reinforce this message at home by reminding students that it’s okay to make mistakes online—as long as we learn from them and keep trying in positive, responsible ways.
Together, we can help our Panthers grow into confident, respectful, and resilient digital citizens!

Cozy Up with a Good Book! |
Winter is the perfect time to slow down, get cozy, and enjoy all kinds of reading! We encourage students and families to explore a variety of reading experiences during the winter months. Whether it’s curling up with a favorite chapter book, enjoying a picture book by the fire, reading poetry, or exploring nonfiction topics like animals, weather, or winter sports, every type of reading helps strengthen literacy skills.
Audiobooks, magazines, recipes, and even instructions for games or crafts are also wonderful ways to build a love of reading. No matter the format, reading together and talking about what you’ve read helps children grow as confident readers. This winter, grab a blanket, find a comfy spot, and enjoy the many ways reading can bring learning and joy to the season!
