Families may pay with cash or check (made payable to City Park Elementary) using the Lifetouch envelope sent home, or purchase online by scanning the QR code on the envelope or visiting ybpay.lifetouch.com and using ID Code: 15516426.

Option 2: Two payments of $15

Counseling Corner

This month we are focusing on honesty, an important character trait that helps build trust, responsibility, and strong relationships. Children learn honesty best when it is consistently modeled and positively reinforced. Tips to try at home and school:

Model truthful behavior by admitting mistakes and talking through them openly

Create a safe space where children feel comfortable telling the truth without fear of harsh consequences

Praise honesty even when the truth is difficult to share

Use teachable moments to discuss why honesty matters and how it helps others feel safe and respected. By working together, we can help students understand that honesty is always the right choice—even when it’s hard.

Suggested books:

The Honest-to-Goodness Truth — Patricia C. McKissack

Eli’s Lie-O-Meter: A Story About Telling the Truth — Sandra Levins

Ruthie and the (Not So) Teeny Tiny Lie — Laura Rankin

The Boy Who Cried Wolf — B. G. Hennessy

Honesty Makes Me Stronger — Elizabeth Cole

The Empty Pot — Demi

Betty Bunny Didn’t Do It — Michael B. Kaplan

Lying Up a Storm — Julia Cook

PAWetry!

This month, we are celebrating poetry in many places throughout our school! One featured poem, displayed outside the media center, focuses on Black History Month and invites students to stop, read, and reflect. The poem is labeled with important poetry terms such as stanza, verse, and rhyme to help students make meaningful connections to what they are learning in class. We encourage families to read the poem together and talk with your child about its meaning and message as we honor Black History Month this February.
