PAWSitive Panther Trait: Sportsmanship
|
This month we are focusing on sportsmanship—playing fair, showing kindness, and respecting others whether we win or lose. Good sportsmanship helps students build teamwork skills, strong friendships, and a positive attitude. This is just in time for our upcoming field days! Be on the lookout for information about these fun events!
Tips for Parents & Educators
• Praise effort, teamwork, and positive attitudes—not just winning. • Model respectful language during games and competition. • Encourage students to congratulate others and handle mistakes with kindness.

This year’s offerings include:
Academic Camps like CATapult, Kid City, and the Summer Transition Program.
Athletic Camps hosted by Hammond Creek Middle, Dalton Junior High, Dalton High School and The Dalton Academy, featuring basketball, football, volleyball, cheerleading, tennis, soccer, softball, and speed & agility training.
Community Camps that provide even more options for families seeking engaging summer activities across the Dalton-Whitfield County area.
Dalton Reads! Literacy Events:
As part of our ongoing Dalton Reads! initiative, we invite children and families to join us this summer for free books and fun, engaging literacy activities that inspire a love of reading. Our pop-up events offer more than just book giveaways. We will also have resources available to help families support Kindergarten readiness, including practical tips and guidance for learning at home. These opportunities are designed to build confidence for the upcoming school year while making reading exciting and accessible for everyone. Keep an eye out for the Dalton Reads van at each site so you know where to find us!
Parents who attend will be entered to win a literacy basket—and if you attend all 5 sites, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a gift card!
