PAWSibilities for 4th and 5th Grades

Glee Club Choir for Grades 4 & 5

We are excited to kick off the school year with our City Park Glee Club, a choir for 4th and 5th grade students, led by our wonderful music teacher, Mr. Ward Satterfield. The Glee Club will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of events, both on and off campus, including concert performances, school-wide sing-alongs, community event performances, and the district’s Elementary Choral Festival. Their first rehearsal will be held on Thursday, September 4. This is just one of the many PAWSibilities we offer for students to explore their interests and talents in the arts at City Park Elementary!

Student Council Elections for Grades 4 & 5

We are excited to announce the upcoming student council elections for our fourth and fifth grade students! Each homeroom will have the opportunity to elect two students to represent their class for the school year. The student council is led by Ms. Jones, Mrs. Talley, and Ms. Bagley, and plays an important role in shaping our school community.

Last week, Ms. Jones introduced the student council to all students during a guidance lesson. She led a read-aloud about a young girl who shows leadership and followed it with hands-on leadership activities. Students were given applications to take home, which must be signed and completed by parents. Applications are due in the media center by Tuesday, September 2.

Once applications are approved, candidates will meet with teacher leaders on September 3 to discuss campaigning and the campaign rules. Campaigning will begin and run through Tuesday, September 16, with elections taking place on Thursday, September 17—Constitution Day! This will be a great opportunity for students to experience the democratic process firsthand while also celebrating the day our country’s Constitution was signed and learning about the roles and responsibilities of citizens.

Elected student council members will participate in activities around our school and community, helping to make decisions about service projects and other positive culture-building activities like spirit dress-up days. They will also help lead our Pledge of Allegiance and serve as ambassadors at events and assemblies, representing City Park Elementary with pride.

We look forward to a great election season!

PAWSitive Panthers: Responsibility

This month, we are focusing on the character trait of responsibility in our PAWSitive Panthers program. With the support of our guidance counselors, students will explore what it means to take care of their belongings and stay engaged in the classroom. They'll learn how responsibility ties into safety, how being helpful to others fosters a positive environment, and how following rules supports a responsible and respectful school community. We’re excited to see our students grow in these important areas!
