Veterans Day

City Park Elementary will be honoring our heroes with a Veterans Day Assembly on Tuesday, November 11 at 1:00 PM, and we would love to highlight those connected to our Panther family.

If you are a former City Park student who is currently serving or has served in the military, or if you are a parent, guardian, or family member of a current student or staff member who has served, we invite you to be part of this special tribute.

You can participate by sending in:

A photo of yourself in uniform

OR a short video introducing yourself to our students

For more details, please reach out to Mrs. Hannah Talley at hannah.talley@dalton.k12.ga.us

Let’s make this a meaningful celebration for our students as we honor the bravery and sacrifice of our veterans!

Scholastic Book Fair

Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to build your child’s home library with new books they’ll dive into again and again.

The easiest way to let your child shop the Fair independently is by creating an eWallet. It’s easy to set up and easy for others to add funds.

Create an eWallet, and you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to Share the Fair - the giving program that supports students at our school who need help buying books. Consider participating so that no child leaves the Fair empty- handed!

Here’s everything else you need to know about the Book Fair:

Dates: NOVEMBER 17-20
Location: CITY PARK MEDIA CENTER

For full details, and to create an eWallet, visit our school’s Book Fair homepage:

https://www.scholastic.com/bf/cityparkschool

Please remember that sales tax applies to all purchases.

Happy
reading!

Amira Testing for Grades K-3

November 10 kicks off our winter Amira testing session window, the second of three assessments this school year! Amira is a computer-based reading program that listens as students read aloud and provides instant feedback to help build fluency and confidence.

Students in grades K–3 take the Amira assessment three times each year—fall, winter, and spring—to measure growth and guide instruction.

Please help your child do their best by making sure they get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive on time. We can’t wait to see all the reading progress our Panthers have made!

Counseling Corner

November is a time for gratitude and giving thanks. As we approach the holiday season, it’s important to take a moment to reflect on all that we have to be grateful for and how we can give back to others. This month, we’ll be
focusing on gratitude and community service, encouraging students to appreciate the good in their lives and to think about how they can make a positive impact on others.
