Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe we are heading into the last week of February! As we move closer to spring, our focus remains strong on learning, growth, and finishing this month well.

Students are working hard in their classrooms, and we are seeing great progress as teachers continue to monitor growth and provide support where needed. Thank you for reinforcing strong attendance, reading at home, and positive habits that help your child be successful each day.

As we close out the month, we also want to continue encouraging our Wildcat Ways — showing respect, responsibility, and kindness in every setting. When school and home work together, our students thrive.

We are grateful for your partnership and the support you show our staff and students each day. March is right around the corner, and we are excited about all the learning and opportunities ahead!

With Gratitude,

Alesa Smith

Westwood Participates in Elementary Choral Festival

Our Westwood Chorus proudly participated in the Elementary Choral Festival, spending the day alongside five other DPS elementary schools learning, practicing, and preparing for a special evening performance. After a full day of hard work and collaboration, they took the stage and truly shined! Their performance was amazing — they sounded beautiful and represented Westwood so well. We are incredibly proud of their dedication, teamwork, and the way they carried the Wildcat banner with excellence!

Jonas Program

Our 3rd–5th graders recently participated in the “Hey, What’s That Sound?” program through Creative Arts Guild! Students explored how the elements of STEAM work together in the process of creation — discovering how science, technology, engineering, art, and math all play a role in understanding and producing sound. It was an engaging, experience that sparked curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. We love seeing our students make connections across subjects in such meaningful ways!
